About Jeannie Fredrick

Jeannie Fredrick, Author

How I became a writer

Meco=I was born in Steamboat Springs, Colorado and raised in nearby Craig, where I began my fascination and interest in words, writing and books.

My parents encouraged me to read by allowing me to stay up past my bedtime, albeit reading in bed. I was hooked. My first favorite books were Nancy Drew and the Boxcar Children and then later found author Lawrence Sanders and quickly fell in love with his characters, the stodgy Edward X. Delaney and playboy Archy McNally.

I can write, too!

At one point while reading, I had an epiphany. “I can write books too,” I thought. And the idea was planted in my naïve little brain. It took several more years of life experience and writing practice to develop an idea where I can help others.

I have been published in Grit, Florida Retirement Lifestyles, Daytona News Journal, Palatka Daily News and was the publisher at the Crescent City Courier Journal.

Books I’ve written

My first book, Abruptly Alone: A Widow’s Memoir, is out and available on Amazon. It’s my experience and journey as a widow. I’ve also co-written, Do You Know Me? Poems About the Sea. I am working on a novel and have several other ideas in the works.

I am also interested in arts and certain crafts, love Pinterest and have an 18 month-old black Lab named Thunder. Follow me on social media and my blog and you’ll hear more about everything!
